A visit to his sister in Asia throws Western ghostbuster Arthur off-kilter when he finds that the usual tools of his trade do not work entirely on the spirits and monsters that he meets. He is confronted by Mu Chen, an otherworldly entity. As part of a department which seeks to protect humans from paranormal attacks, Mu Chen is investigating the reason behind the increasing chaos in the mortal realm. Though he initially suspects Arthur of being responsible, he realises Arthur doesn’t really have the brains to carry it off.
Once Mu Chen discovers that Arthur is a trouble magnet, he decides to stick to Arthur like glue because he has a KPI to meet. He has to clock up a certain number of points, eradicating monsters and saving humans – or face petrification. They have a complementary relationship as the once-arrogant Arthur learns more about Asian supernaturals and helps Mu Chen to hit his KPI, eventually becoming Watson to his Sherlock. For Arthur, the paranormal chaos also hits closer to home as a supernatural villain threatens his whole family.
